I am Koichi Inada, the representative of Yao Urushi Kogei.

We have been involved in the lacquering of shrines and temples and the manufacture of Buddhist altars and Buddhist
altars for more than 30 years, and have been lacquering about 100 temples.

l usually go to temples all over Japan to work.
l am also playing an active role in the urushi lacquering process in the temple construction of one of Japan’s leading Buddhist altar makers.
In recent years, I have also been working on Japanese national treasures and important cultural properties.

The most important thing for me to do my job is to stubbornly protect the use of traditional construction methods and materials.
In particular, we are particular about the highest peak construction method that has been handed down from ancient times,
such as honkataji base , natural urushi lacquering with brush, and roiro mirror finish.
What kind of material is used and what kind of work is being done at any time during work.
Being able to answer clearly is also a testament to being able to do a real job.
Nowadays, the word “takumi” is easily touted, but only a few craftsmen can do real urushi lacquering in buildings such as temples.

I will utilize the technology and experience I have cultivated to lacquer urushi for buildings and building materials,
and lacquer urushi for furniture, etc. for overseas customers.
We will meet the needs of our customers as much as possible and achieve a satisfactory finish.

I will do my best every day without forgetting that it is an important work in Japan that must be left to future generations.
